Rinseless shampoo was first developed for hospital patients who were unable to shower.
This bottle of No Rinse® brand hair conditioner has been prepared and packaged to be flown on the Space Shuttle. As well as being hermetically sealed, the bottle has had a round Velcro strip attached to its side for securing in the microgravity environment of space. As weightless water is difficult to handle, astronauts wash using rinseless soap and shampoo that is rubbed into the hair and then toweled off (though they must not let loose hairs fall off the towel because that can create a safety hazard and clog filters).
