This swatch of pressure-sensitive Kapton polyimide tape was cut from America's thermal protection subsystem. Applied under the external ablator surface of the Command Module, the tape was used to shield the spacecraft from the extreme temperatures of space. Mission commander Eugene Cernan's corporation had these acrylics produced.
